Les Voiles de Saint Barth, its growing momentum as a major event in St Barths, and its success in attracting satisfied participants are of special interest to the Collectivite of ST. Barthelemy. The island of St. Barthelemy is thoughtfully contending with its economic, environmental and cultural development, a fragile formula for such a small and internationally recognized island. The Collectivite recognizes that the development of LVDSB is aligned with the very vision that SB has for itself as it grows economically, through the marine industry, while maintaining steadfastly the traditions, integrity, humanity, and integral charm inherent in St. barth.
The organizing Committee of LVDSB, through its exemplary work and high standards as well as the enthusiasm, effort and sportsmanship of the gracious yacht participants have caught the attention of the international yachting and tourist media who concur in the applause of this fledgling event.
Despite the impressive precedent of the successful first 2 editions, I am certain that the LVDSB team has the competence, motivation and organizational discipline to push the bar even higher in 2012.
It is with pleasure that we recognize that this nautical event is in keeping with the most important values of life here in St. Barths; the encouragement of a competitive, intrepid spirit all while maintaining a harmony with the local elements.
The Collectivite reaffirms its support of LVDSB into the future as well as its desire to accommodate and welcome the various participants and spectators who come to visit the island at this time.
It is with particular pleasure that we welome the sailors who come from so many distant waters.
I hope that the 2012 of LVDSB is yet another success and a spectacular week of spectacle and conviviality for the local population and for visitors.
