Les Voiles de St. Barth 2010
6 -11 April

From the days of traditional Caribbean pirogues to the mega-yacht ‘Octopus,’ by way of the schooner ‘Ipana’ and the era of traditional wooden fishing boats, Saint Barthélemy has always had its nose to the wind and its heart belongs to the sea.
Schooner captains that once plied the waters of the Caribbean helped carve a reputation for the island that its fishermen perpetuate today.

From Romon Beal and Eric Tabarly, who enjoyed sailing into the port, to Antoine Questel, Jeff Lédée, and Miguel Danet, as well as Luc Poupon, our race director, the maritime tradition is firmly anchored on this island where nautical events have always met with popular success. First came the regattas organized by Loulou in the 1970s, then the first transatlantic challenge Lorient-St Barth-Lorient, which was followed by the Transat AG2R, the Route du Rosé, and the St Barth Bucket Regatta.

"Les Voiles de Saint Barth" wants to continue this nautical tradition, interweaving the traditional and the contemporary, a regatta with a friendly get-together.

The inspiration for “Les Voiles de Saint Barth” is to create a regatta for beautiful sailboats to navigate in our waters in a festive spirit.

A new nautical event poised to make its debut April 6-11, 2010…
